Melissa + Brittany: Overpeck County Park Engagement Session

I LOVEEEE summertime so when Brittany reached out to me for an engagement session with her partner Melissa, I was excited to say the least! Summertime may be hot but its the perfect time to get those golden hour photos without having to rush before 5pm to get the perfect shot. It was the beginning of summer and if this session was any indication on how the summer was going to go, then it was a strong one because these two brought the heat! I’ve been friends with Brittany since 2008-2009 and to see us go from high school to falling in love is something special. These two were so fun and open to ideas, making them relaxed in front of the camera was my biggest task because once that happens, the magic comes with it!
I met them at Overpeck Park in Leonia, NJ; which is a big spacious park full of walking paths, beautiful scenery and lots of little hidden areas to go crazy with my camera! We met around 530pm to get close to golden hour and once I saw they both showed up giddy with excitement, I knew it was going to be a great session! We started walking around a bit, chatting and getting comfortable before I pulled the camera out. I love having small talk with my couples before the session starts because it’s all about connection and making sure they’re at their most comfortable so we can create timeless art without the awkwardness!
It was the perfect day for us to freeze these moments in time and we started off to the side of the road where there was shrubbery and nobody to disrupt or photobomb us lol! We made our way down the path towards the far side of the park where there is nothing but open space and tons of grass to lay on. Throughout the walk I had them stop at certain areas I saw would make amazing images and posed them to the scene. It was so joyful to see the love these two have for each other, staring into one another’s eyes and never breaking eye contact. We ended the session with a champagne pop which I bring for all my couples because I mean, we are celebrating amirite!? Thanks for reading and enjoy the art we got to create that day!
